Yacht Fibreglass Repairs in Thailand

Sunseeker Manhattan 52 on stands in Thailand

Manhattan 52. Composite repairs and a black hull. Thailand, 2020.

Fibreglass repairs in Thailand are run as part of a written refit, not as a separate trade added after the yard has opened the job. The Thailand team manages them from the office at Ocean Marina Jomtien (Ocean Marina) in Pattaya, on the Gulf of Thailand. One project manager stays with the yacht from the first survey through the specification, the yard period and handover. Scott Taylor is the founder and owner. EST. 1990.

The company on the ground is Yacht Refit Asia Co., Ltd., Thai registration 0205562024126. Call +66 (0)80 829 0122 or write to info@yachtrefitasia.com. The head office is Yacht Refit Asia Pte Ltd in Singapore, at 336 Smith Street, and the same project manager can carry a programme between the two. The wider Thailand refit, including the yards the office works with, is on superyacht refit in Thailand.

What the specification can include

When the specification includes them, the composite scope covers laminate repairs, gelcoat restoration and osmosis treatment, and hull and structure repairs in fibreglass. The same list is the one already used for this work inside a Thailand refit. Everything is priced on one specification. Extra work found after opening up is agreed in writing before it starts. This page does not publish a day rate, a fixed duration, or a price for a repair.

A repair can be the whole job, or one section of a larger refit. Fairing, engineering and interior work stay in the same written scope when the owner wants them there. Where the specification also includes a coating, that coating work is carried out by our sister company Superyacht Painters. The fibreglass repair itself stays inside the refit managed from Ocean Marina.

How a repair is run

The first step is a survey of the damage: what the laminate is doing, whether the gelcoat is the limit of the fault, and what the captain has already logged. From that survey the office writes a specification and asks for a price on that scope, so the owner can read the quote against the work that was actually described.

Once the scope is agreed, a supervisor is on site through the working week. You receive written progress, with photographs and the cost position, and any variation is still open until you have agreed it. Fittings that come off are recorded before they go back. At the end, the handover file from the Ocean Marina office collects the reports, the photographs and the certificates the specification asked for, and the crew is walked through the work.

The same sequence is how the Thailand office runs a refit. Here it is applied to the fibreglass scope, so a laminate repair is not left outside the programme that governs the rest of the yacht.

Repairs on record

The programmes below are the composite repairs already published. Singapore is listed first, then Thailand, then Hong Kong. The Princess gelcoat work in Phuket is not repeated on this page. It stays on the Phuket account.

55 m motor yacht, Singapore, 2025

A 55 m motor yacht was refitted in Singapore in 2025, including a composite repair. The photograph of that repair is kept on the Singapore head office page. The captain of M/Y Azamanta 55 m wrote:

Special thanks to your company team for accommodating our requirements on short notice. They carried out a fast yet high-quality job, delivering excellent results and meeting our target. Much appreciated!

That reference is published in full on the testimonials page. It is copied here unchanged.

Manhattan 52, Thailand, 2020

A Sunseeker Manhattan 52 in Thailand had composite repairs and a black hull in 2020. The programme was planned from a survey of that scope, and the written specification covered the repairs and the hull. It was delivered in 2020. The yacht is shown on stands at the top of this page. No marina is named on the card beyond Thailand.

27.1 m motor yacht, Thailand

A 27.1 m motor yacht in Thailand had fairing, paint and composite modifications. The composite modifications are the fibreglass part of that record. The card does not name a marina, and it does not give a year. The photograph below is the one published for that yacht.

33 m Ferretti Navetta, M/Y Kerry, Hong Kong

M/Y Kerry, a 33 m Ferretti Navetta, had emergency composite work on the hull and the diesel tank in Hong Kong. Captain Lance Dawson wrote:

I would like to thank Scott Taylor and his team for the impressive work done completing GRP repairs on our Ferretti Navetta 33. The challenge of a tight time frame to arrive, find the required materials and do the work was met with smiles, laughter and professionalism. All class and insurance surveyors were satisfied with all the work completed, all detailed schedules and work reports were sent on a regular basis to be sure all concerned were happy and in the loop. I would highly recommend these guys for any work required.

The letter is the published reference for that job. It names class and insurance surveyors. It does not name a classification society. The same words are on the testimonials page.

Where the yacht can be hauled in Thailand

The repair is not tied to one yard. Haul-out on the Gulf of Thailand and on the Andaman side, including Ocean Marina and the options the office can arrange, is listed on the Thailand refit page. That list is not copied here. The office prices the same specification at the places that suit the yacht and the dates.

Further composite cards sit with the other programmes on the project list and the case studies. To start, send the yacht, the damage and the season you have in mind to info@yachtrefitasia.com, or call +66 (0)80 829 0122. The Ocean Marina office will come back to you.
