Inspections and surveys for yacht painting in Thailand
The yacht painting inspection survey is part of yacht painting in Thailand. It is carried out from the Ocean Marina, Pattaya site office, and written up in Yacht Refit Asia's private inspection app.
References used on the inspection
Fairness is measured against ISO 11347. Preparing the surface is referred to ISO 8501-8504. The coatings guideline in use is ICOMIA 51-18 for superyacht coatings. Where it applies, the practice followed for yacht painting in Thailand is AMPP/NACE and SSPC. The specification of the paint maker governs the product on the job: Awlgrip (AkzoNobel), International, Jotun or Alexseal. Limits on fairness apply to areas that have been repaired. Any surface that was not repaired is accepted as found, unless the contract says otherwise.
Readings for yacht painting in Thailand
The tent is climate-controlled and kept at 25 °C. Inside it, the log records air temperature, steel temperature, humidity, dew point, and how far the steel sits from that dew point. Dry film thickness is measured. Gloss is measured. Colour difference, written as ΔE, is measured against the target colour. Before primer, Shore D hardness is measured on the filler. The eye checks the surface from a set distance and a set angle, under lighting that is controlled. Fairness is measured where the surface was repaired. The brand of any gauge is not stated.
Stops in yacht painting Thailand
Work pauses at surface preparation, then at filler and fairing, then at primer, then at the topcoats, and last at final acceptance. Moving past a pause requires a signature from Yacht Refit Asia and from the owner's representative, or from the client's surveyor. An example of a typical job, and only an example, is Awlgrip Awlfair fairing, a primer, and Awlcraft 3000 topcoats.
Weekly reports and who receives them
Progress on yacht painting in Thailand is written up each week, and parts that come off are recorded, both in Yacht Refit Asia's Word format and PDF format. Those papers include photographs, a coded list of the parts, and blocks where people sign. What counts as accepted is agreed with the client's surveyor. Copies go to the owner's representative or the project manager, to the client's paint surveyor, to the yard when the yard is involved, and to Yacht Refit Asia management.
Written up in a private app and portal
Readings, photographs and hold-point sign-offs are compiled into the written survey. It is a private app and portal. The client signs in. It is not put out as a public download. No name is attached to the app, and no address is published.
Every project for yacht painting in Thailand has its own online project portal. It stores documents, paint data sheets, the records of each hold point, records of parts that were removed, a timeline, and galleries of photos that are dated.
