Yacht painting Thailand: yacht painters on a yacht refit
Yacht Refit Asia is the Thailand-based team for expert hull paint finishes. Yacht painting Thailand is planned with the yacht refit, so the coating is not added after the yard has already opened the job. The yacht painters work from Yacht Refit Asia's site office at Ocean Marina, Pattaya. Scott Taylor founded the company and still owns it. The firm dates from 1990. Ocean Marina, Pattaya site office
Ocean Marina, Pattaya is Yacht Refit Asia's site office for yacht painting Thailand, where the yacht painters run each yacht refit. The company on the ground is Yacht Refit Asia Co., Ltd. Its Thai registration is 0205562024126. Mail for that office goes to Unit 27, 167/5, Na Jomtien, Chon Buri 20250, at Ocean Marina, Pattaya. The drive up from Bangkok takes roughly ninety minutes. This office sets the coating plan. Yachts are not lifted here, and the address is not a yard.
Owners arrive before the yacht is lifted, and they read reports while the coating continues. At this base the published hulls are a Benetti of 40.2 m and, separately, a motor yacht of 41 m. Both carry an Awlcraft 3000 finish. A Sunseeker Manhattan 73 departed in December 2021. Repairs to the paint came first. Primer followed: Awlgrip 545 epoxy. The colour coat was Awlcraft 3000, Super Jet Black, and the style lines were painted red.
Bangkok Dock programmes
Bangkok Dock, Thailand, is an office for yacht painting in Thailand, separate from the Ocean Marina, Pattaya site office. In 2015 a 60 m Oceanco was faired and then finished in Alexseal. The managed scope reached the topsides, the machinery space, the underwater hull and the pool. A 34 m Camper & Nicholsons, launched in 1904, received fairing and an Awlgrip coating put on by roller, brush and tip. Scott Taylor, the founder, handed over both yachts with the painting team under the same ownership. A 42 m catamaran, also in Thailand, had fairing repairs and a full Awlgrip coating. No yacht name is published for that catamaran.
How yacht painting in Thailand fits a yacht refit
The coating shares one written scope with the yacht refit. Fairing is placed before the last colour. On the Manhattan 73 the named primer, Awlgrip 545 epoxy, went on ahead of Awlcraft 3000. Checks sit ahead of the last coats, and sign-off follows the written scope. A chemical and paint-use licence sits behind the work, and no further claim is made from it. Opening hours are unpublished.
Coatings already named on Thailand programmes are Awlcraft 3000, Awlgrip, Awlgrip 545 primer, Alexseal and Hempel. One Thailand newbuild used a Hempel system. International and Jotun are coatings the team has also worked with. No other brand is added here.
Faded yacht paint in Thailand
Faded yacht paint Thailand comes from sun and heat. Ultraviolet light works on the coating. Chalking leaves a dull powder on the surface. Gloss is lost, and the colour changes from the shade that was applied.
Yacht Refit Asia inspects that fade as part of yacht painting in Thailand. Gloss is read, and colour difference, written as ΔE, is read against the target colour. From those readings the fix is either compounding and polishing, or a repaint.
Paint inspections that sit beside this work, including gloss and ΔE, are written up on the Thailand inspection notes. The refit sequence is on the Thailand refit page.
